What is it?
In the context of chemicals, exposure describes how people or the environment come into contact with a substance,by what route, at what concentration, and for how long, while risk assessment evaluates whether that exposure is likely to cause harm by comparing it against the chemical’s hazard properties and dose–response data.

What we offer
Our team of chemists, (eco)toxicologists, exposure modellers and environmental scientists design and deliver chemical risk assessments that combine hazard identification with quantitative and qualitative exposure evaluation to characterise and manage risks throughout a product’s life cycle, helping clients meet regulatory obligations and ensure safe use of chemicals.
Related services
These services sit alongside related offerings such as hazard communication, scientific testing and regulatory compliance support (e.g., for REACH and other global frameworks), giving clients integrated solutions from exposure modelling through to compliance and product stewardship

Our Process
Hazard identification & data gathering
Collect and review relevant hazard data (toxicology, ecotoxicology, phys-chem properties), using literature, databases or commissioning tests if necessary.
Exposure assessment
Characterise how the chemical is used, who/what is exposed, and estimate exposure levels through modelling or measurement.
Dose–response evaluation
Determine the relationship between exposure levels and adverse effects based on available toxicity data.
Risk characterisation
Integrate hazard and exposure information to estimate risk and evaluate whether it’s acceptable under relevant standards or regulations.
Risk management
How to manage the risk if not controlled, using tools and systems such as Chesar, CHARM, Petrorisk.
